I like to watch movies and television when I draw. It can’t be something that I haven’t seen before, or else I get distracted. There are a few shows and movies that I can watch almost on an endless loop without getting bored or distracted. One of those gems is Merlin.
Oh man, that show. I found it last May and have watched all of the series several times over. It reignited a love for Arthurian tales, and compelled me to write long essays about my love for it. Don’t worry, I won’t repost them here.
But! I was moved to draw some cartoons, so I thought I’d toss those your way.
I love mythology, for oodles of reasons. In this instance, it helped me love Merlin more. In the images above we see Arthur and Merlin as they are today. Arthur is trapped in a crypt (or cave) waiting for judgement day. That’s when he and his knights will ride again to fight the hoards of hell. And then there’s Merlin. Tricked into a tree (or glass tower, or rock) by Nimue, he’s just chilling in that hawthorn till….probably eternity.
Either way, these gents must be getting bored.
Poor Arthur. I do believe there’s a bright lad in there somewhere, but that show does a nice job of hiding it.
I guess this next one is a bit of a SPOILER, so stay back if you haven’t seen the end of series 2.
I am a BIG fan of How to Train Your Dragon, so when this idea hit me I was too tickled. Poor Hiccup, he just can’t catch a break.
Okay! So those were some of the Merlin pics I had up my sleeve. I think it’s great fun joshing around with my favorite shows. I hope to do it again soon.
Thanks for stopping!
