Art Roll Rockin’ with the Holiest of ‘Dem

Rockin’ with the Holiest of ‘Dem

I’m too much of a fan of my own picture. I’ve had a couple of months to look at it and figure out what I’d do differently, but I still find the energy so infectious I just don’t give a damn.

Any artist (including myself) can win me over by drawing someone enjoying a dogs’ company.

What makes this awesomer is that this is based on the story of St. Rock. As religous as I’m not, I love to learn stories about saints. Given my track record of mythology and superheroes it makes sense: I like stories of people that are larger than life.

St. Rock was a dude that treated people that were ill with the plague, even though he knew the dangers of such close contact. In time, he contacted the disease, and not wanting to effect others, went to die quietly in the woods. Or did he…?!

A dog followed him and licked his sores clean and nursed him back to health. St. Rock lived to fight diseases another day!

I modernized what St. Rock and his pooch could look like, and threw in some music therapy skills. Look, I’m not letting a man called St. Rock out in the world without a guitar in hand. It feels too wrong.

Thanks for stopping!
