I could take up a MILLION pages talking about Heroes Con, but I’ll try and keep it brief. DAH BASICS: It was soooooooooooo (xInfinity) awesome. It gets high praise for a myriad of reasons, but the biggest one is that it was the first con where I was treated like a creator.
Which, yeah, is kind of a lie. I mean, it’s not. I do draw Troop Infinity, but that’s so crazy small time I never brought it up. But when I was introduced it was never, “Hey, this is Sheli. Wait two seconds and she’ll geek out about how much she loves you”. It was, “Hey, this is Sheli, she draws Troop Infinity/Josh’s comic/a webcomic for kids (it changed depending on who I was talking to).
And just that tiny change from being addressed as a fan to an artist dramatically changed how I enjoyed this con. I went around the con floor and struck up conversations and people asked me for my card. Pssh. What card? Oh, wait – you’re interested in what I’m telling you? WHY? OH MY GOD WHY?
Kinda a BIG change for me. Still psyched about it. I’ve been drawing/sculpting thank yous since then.
Which brings me to the actual pictures of this post:
I’ve really been enjoying Battle Pug. If you haven’t read it yet – WHY NOT?
Let’s just roll with, ” I reeeeeeally like it”. So when I saw that Mike Norton had a booth I made a big mental check mark in my brain to remember to stop by.
And because I’m the awesome person that you know, I totally forgot. Every other artist I missed I was pretty okay with because I’d caught up with them at different cons. But I’d never said hi to Mike Norton before! Right there was the oppritunity to do it in person!
I’m a goof. But since I had pugs on the mind I thought that I could make up for it in a small way, so I bring you some of my own Battle Pugs. Very different from the comic, but strangely satisfying nonetheless.
And now I’ll be on a mini-crusade to FIND MIKE NORTON. Y’all have a peaceful evening while I creepily stalk con listings.
Thanks for stopping!
