Apparently that is a thing that is happening. So.
!#$%@#$^%^&*^&$%@#$!#!#$^$%&^&*%^&$%@%#@!$!
Hot Damn.
I don’t think I could ever convey what a huge deal that this is for me. A lot of people have idols or just people they respect highly but I know that I am always concise of who I’m paying homage to. As an artist it’s inescapable. Whatever you’re drawing you’re drawing in the shadow of someone else’s style. I can see when I draw when I accidentally make a Looney Tunes face, or Invincible abs, or in so many cases, a Spider-Man figure.
No matter what I’m reading today I have Marvel comics to thank for my interest in comics. I could go DC for the rest of my days (I won’t, trust me) and I would still be thanking Marvel till the day that I died. The figures that I copy, the stories that I emulate, all started with Marvel. Which all started with Stan the Man Lee.
So now I’m being told I won an iFanboy drawing and get to meet him in six days?
HOLY [insert pile of expletives here]
Except for Chuck Jones there is no one more significant in my book.
I’m going to try and eek out time to make this a Marvel week. What time I have there is little of, but I will do my best!
That’s not entirely true, I’m not in love with the above Spider-Man, but it’s the best that I can do in 40 minutes.
Whatever! I don’t care about criticism right now! I get to meet STAN LEE!
